Here the inner escape pawl is contacting an inner escape pin at about maximum
recoil. As a pawl contacts it's pin, the escape gear recoils (clockwise),
allowing the opposing pawl to fall away from it's escape pin.
The escape pins are made of 1/4" brass and the escape pawls are made of ebony. The visible bearings are ABEC-5 roller blade bearings. The Inertia clockwork uses 16 of these bearings. |
